As a photographer, one of the most important steps in bringing together a photoshoot is the discovery call. This is the initial conversation between you (the client) and myself. I want to know your vision and goals for the photoshoot.

It’s a crucial step in the process for me, as it allows me to fully understand the client’s needs and create a plan to bring their vision to life. The discovery call serves as the foundation for the entire photoshoot process. The discovery call is the first opportunity for me (the photographer) to get to know you (the) the client and understand you, your personality and your vision.

We will discuss the your vision and goals for the photoshoot, including the type of images you want to create, the style and mood you’re going for, and the overall look and feel of the final product. This information is essential for us to work together and to create a plan that will deliver the best possible images that suit your vision. Things to consider are, that some locations have hire fees, whether hair and makeup is needed as well, or even any props or items are going to be needed during the shoot.

We will also discuss the budget for the photoshoot. Custom Photoshoots often require more time, planning, and resources than a standard photoshoot, and it’s important for both of us to understand what we’re working with before moving forward with the project.

It is also important to clearly agree on the timeline for the photoshoot. This includes the date, time, and duration of the shoot, as well as the turnaround time for the final images. You should also clearly outline any deadlines you might have for the final images. This helps me to prioritise my post shoot editing accordingly and avoid and last minute stress for both of us.
